Mah Jongg classes for beginners and strategy and monthly brunches and events.
My Mah Jongg classes will teach you the basics of playing American Mah Jongg, according to the National Mah Jongg League Guidelines. The focus will be on Mah Jongg tile recognition, strategy, rules, and lots of fun! Classes are small, with great attention to each person’s needs. I will also show you the basics of choosing a Mah Jongg set and have lots of show and tell.

Eight years. I started playing over 30 years ago.
What is your primary product or service?
I teach Mah Jongg to beginner's and strategy to all levels of players. I also lecture and host a monthly Mah Jongg Brunch.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have been playing Mah Jongg since the seventies. My grandmother, mother, cousins, friends all played. I resisted, but finally gave in and got hooked!
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I am an extraordinary teacher. I love the beauty of the sets, the strategy, the "mind on wide" aspect and always have show and tell. Lots and lots of stories, I also have enormous patience and go only as fast as the person who needs me the most.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I teach all over the Bay Area and actually anywhere eight students can be gathered. I have taught at the Metropolitan Club, Town & Country Ladies Club, San Francisco, Afikomen Judaica, in Oakland, Orinda Park and Rec, Berkeley Adult School, Albany Community Center, private homes in Piedmont, Berkeley, Marin, Hillsborough and Albany.

One woman left and as she walked out, she turned to me and said, "THIS REALLY WAS A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF FUN!".

Life shrinks or expands according to one's courage. Everything has a crack in it, that's how the light gets through.
