How long have you been in business?
Paulding & Company has been in it's current location for five years. It's an amazing 2400 square foot full industrial kitchen I designed and had built, and can hold groups of nearly 100 who want to cook and play together.
What is your primary product or service?
We have two primary services. Events of all sorts where the guests cook and dine together (corporate team building, rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, private classes), plus cooking classes open to the public, and catering for weddings, meetings etc.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have been in the food/restaurant business since I was a teen, and started teaching Adult Ed cooking classes at Piedmont Adult School 21 years ago--and taught for them for 20 years. My business really grew from the enthusiasm of my students, who wanted me to cater, or host their corporate groups, etc.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We don't have a lot of competition, and what there is, rents space for their East Bay groups at my kitchen. We also have a philosophy of having our guests come in and learn some things that they will be able to apply to the rest of their lives, and have a great, fun, delicious time doing so. Our ingredients are top quality and we work with local produce from the farmers markets, and individually selected, organic and sustainable products. We are a green business too!
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Only one location, and no plan to expand at this point. We're having too much fun right here!
Provide detailed directions to your location
The kitchen is at 1410 62nd. St., just West of Hollis St., in Emeryville. It's 1/2 block from the Emeryville Amtrak station, 1 block from several Emery-Go-Round stops, so easily reached from BART MacArthur station, and if you're driving, it's only two long blocks South of Powell St. freeway exit.
What type of payments do you accept?
We prefer checks, and for cooking classes will take Paypal payments as well.
Which areas do you service?
We are conveniently located for the East Bay and San Francisco, and have groups that come as far as from the South Bay to use our services. For catering, we range all the way to wine country.

What are your hours of operation?
We are open by appointment, for a visit, and for specifically scheduled events. We have no regular business hours as we do not sell any retail products.
