What is your primary product or service?
Repair of cane, rush, splint, Danish cord, wicker, rattan and rawhide furniture. We also the source for books, tools and supplies for caning, basketry, gourd crafting and Ukrainian Egg Decorating.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The owner was an elementary school teacher before discovering the joys of reweaving caned chair seats.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We guarantee all of our work and encourage others to learn how to work with their hands and share our enjoyment of crafts. Jim Widess, owner, has authored 14 books on chair caning, gourd crafting, basketry and Hawaiian crafts.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one store 7 blocks from I-80 and I-580 in Northwest Berkeley, centrally located in the SF Bay Area.

Take the Gilman Street exit off I-580 and I-80. We are on the Southwest corner of 8th and Gilman St in Berkeley, California. Our entrance is on the 8th Street with plenty of parking by our front door.

Which areas do you service?
We serve the entire San Francisco Bay Area as well as having furniture sent to us from all over the United States. Our craft supplies are sent worldwide.

Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 6pm.
Saturday, 10am to 2pm.
